We had the privilege of taking part in the 3rd Corporate Governance Awards 2024 themed "Recognizing Resilience and Sustainable Impact" organised by the Institute of Corporate Governance of Uganda (ICGU). The Awards took place on Friday, 18th October at Sheraton Hotel Kampala with Grant Thornton being the event’s Headline Sponsor. AAR Medical Insurance was represented by PR, Communications & Marketing Manager, Leilah Kamulegeya & Personal Assistant to the Managing Director, Masitula Nanziri.
The Guest of Honour, Hon. Betty Kamya Turwomwe praised the Institute of Corporate Governance of Uganda for fostering a community of companies dedicated to strong governance. She also commended Uganda Development Bank's Managing Director, Ms. Patricia Ojangole for her leadership in promoting governance initiatives. Hon. Kamya highlighted corporate governance as key to a sustainable future, urging ICGU to continue championing resilience and sustainability across Uganda.
At the Awards, Uganda Breweries Limited (UBL) emerged the Overall Winner in recognition of its sustainability efforts. On receiving the award on behalf of UBL, Managing Director, Andrew Kilonzo attributed the win to the great team at Uganda Breweries. “Uganda Breweries Limited has showcased sustainability by reducing on the amount of water used by a half over the past 5 years. In fact, we produce more clean water than we use” he added.

The Awards were a result of voluntary corporate governance self-assessments submitted by over 2,000 corporate organisations from different sectors. Canary Mugume was the host.
